Dr. Takeuchi went to Mount Holyoke College and attended the University of Pennsylvania School of Veterinary Medicine. She completed a 1-year small animal surgery and medicine internship at Red Bank Veterinary Hospital in Tinton Falls, NJ.  She practiced emergency medicine in 24-hour referral hospitals in Norristown, Baltimore, and Memphis prior to moving to Maine. She worked as a relief veterinarian and full time veterinarian prior to joining our team full time as Co-Medical Director. She is also on the Medical Advisory Board for Rarebreed Veterinary Hospitals.   She enjoys hiking, reading, enjoying good food, and riding her horse in her free time, which is rare since she also lives with 3 children who keep her quite busy!

Joseph Edelman

Veterinarian

With 18 years of dedicated practice under my belt, I’ve earned my stripes as a seasoned veterinarian at Eastern Maine Emergency Veterinary Clinic. Graduating from Kansas State University, I embarked on a journey fueled by a passion for animal welfare and a commitment to providing top-tier medical care.

In the fast-paced world of emergency medicine, I thrive on the challenges it presents. Every day, I’m tasked with delivering the highest standard of care through both medical expertise and surgical precision. What sets me apart is not just my clinical skills but my ability to empathize with pet parents during the most stressful moments. Guiding them through tough decisions with clear communication and compassion is where I excel.

Beyond the clinic walls, I wear many hats. As a devoted parent to three energetic children, my life is a whirlwind of activity. Yet amidst the chaos, I find solace in pursuing my passion for wine, currently working towards my diploma from the Wine and Spirit Educational Trust (WSET). When I’m not tending to vines or studying varietals, you can find me unwinding in my garden, lost in the pages of a good book, pounding the pavement on a run, or experimenting with new recipes in the kitchen.

As a veterinarian, parent, and wine enthusiast, I approach every aspect of my life with dedication, empathy, and a thirst for knowledge.
